    What to Expect

    🕒 Typical Pickup Times

    • Morning Rides: Approximately 8:30 AM, especially for bush and beach rides that require low tide conditions.

    • Sunset Rides: These typically begin in the late afternoon, around 4:00 PM, to coincide with the sunset.

    • Swimming with Horses: This activity is available during high tide and is often scheduled in the morning or early afternoon.

    • Here are some helpful tips for horse riding, whether you're a beginner or more experienced: Wear Proper Gear: Helmet: Always wear a riding helmet to protect your head. Footwear: Wear sturdy boots with a small heel to prevent your foot from slipping through the stirrup. Comfortable Clothes: Avoid loose clothing, as it can get caught, and wear pants that allow for ease of movement (e.g., riding breeches or leggings). Maintain Good Posture: Keep your back straight and shoulders relaxed. Hold the reins with a light grip, keeping your elbows slightly bent. Keep your heels down and your legs relaxed against the horse’s sides. Learn to Communicate with the Horse: Reins: Gently pull on the reins to guide the horse. Tension on the reins communicates direction or a need to slow down. Legs: Apply pressure with your legs to signal the horse to move forward or make turns. Start Slow: If you're a beginner, start with walking and gradually move to trotting or cantering once you're comfortable. Don't rush the learning process. Work with an instructor if possible. Stay Calm and Relaxed: Horses can sense your emotions, so staying calm will help the horse remain calm as well. If you feel nervous, take a few deep breaths, and don't be afraid to ask for help. Practice Balance: Make sure to keep your weight centered in the saddle. Don't lean too far forward or backward. Try to move with the horse’s rhythm, especially when trotting or cantering, to avoid bouncing. Look Ahead: Always keep your eyes forward, looking where you want to go, rather than down at the horse or your feet. This helps you maintain better balance and control. Respect the Horse: Treat the horse with kindness and respect. Always approach the horse calmly, and avoid sudden movements that might startle it. Learn to Stop Safely: To stop, gently pull back on the reins while sitting deep in the saddle. Make sure to practice stopping and starting until it feels natural. Know Your Limits: Don’t push yourself too hard, especially if you’re a beginner. It’s important to ride at a pace that feels comfortable and within your skill level.
